"Knocking at the Door" (5) - The Lord Is Knocking at the Door: Can You Recognize His Voice? (2)

Recently, I and brothers and sisters of the church have been exploring the issue of how to seek and welcome the appearance of the Lord. There were not many gains in the last several explorations. Thankfully, what brothers and sisters shared in the gathering of yesterday carries much light.

Sister Li said, “During this period, besides searching some spiritual books, I also looked on the network for the messages about how to welcome the Lord. Thanks for the Lord’s guidance, I got enlightened. The Lord Jesus once prophesied, ‘And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him’(Matthew 25:6), ‘Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me’(Revelation 3:20), ‘He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches … ’(Revelation 2:7). These prophecies all ask us to learn from the wise virgins who focused on hearing God’s voice, in this way, we can be raptured and attend the banquet with the Lord.

Brother Zhang pondered for a while and then said, “Hear God’s voice? It’s true. The Lord Jesus once said, ‘I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come’(Joh 16:12-13), this tells us the Lord would still utter words when He returns and express all the truths that we don’t know.”

Brother Wang said, “I don’t think so, the Bible prophesied the Lord would descend upon clouds and appear to us in the sky, why do we still need to hear the Lord’s voice when welcoming the Lord? I think it is not necessary.”

I said, “I think of the Lord Jesus apostles and the Samaritan woman, they all recognized the Lord Jesus as the coming Messiah through His words and work, but the earliest Pharisees only clung to praying and reading scriptures in the temple but didn’t seek God’s voice, as a result, they opposed the Lord. I feel hearing God’s voice is of great importance.”

Sister Li later found a passage of word on the network, “God’s six-thousand-year plan of management is coming to an end, and the gate of the kingdom has already been opened to all those who seek His appearance. Dear brothers and sisters, what are you waiting for? What is it that you seek? Are you waiting for God to appear? Are you searching for His footprints? How one yearns for the appearance of God! And how difficult it is to find God’s footprints! In an age such as this, in a world such as this, what must we do to witness the day on which God appears? What must we do to keep pace with the footsteps of God? Questions of this kind are faced by all those who are waiting for God to appear. You have all considered them on more than one occasion—but with what outcome? Where does God appear? Where are God’s footprints? Have you got the answer? Many people would reply in this way: “God appears among all those who follow Him and His footprints are in our midst; it’s that simple!” Anyone can provide a formulaic answer, but do you understand what is meant by the appearance of God or His footprints? The appearance of God refers to His arrival on earth to do His work in person. With His own identity and disposition, and in the way that is innate to Him, He descends among mankind to conduct the work of initiating an age and ending an age.”

“As such, since we are searching for the footprints of God, we must search for God’s will, for the words of God, for the utterances of God—for where there are the new words of God, there is the voice of God, and where there are the footsteps of God, there are the deeds of God. Where there is the expression of God, there is the appearance of God, and where there is the appearance of God, there exists the truth, the way, and the life.”

Sister Cheng said, “These words are so good! They clearly tell us how to welcome the Lord’s coming: We should pay attention to seeking God’s utterance if we want to welcome God’s appearance. I think of the Lord Jesus’ words, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’. This passage of words also says ‘where there is the appearance of God, there exists the truth, the way, and the life’. The key is to find where there is the expression of the truth, only finding the expression of the truth and hearing God’s voice can we keep up with God’s footprints and welcome the Lord!”

At the time, the atmosphere of the gathering was lively right away, all said there is a path to welcome the Lord.

The Lord Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice" (Jhn 10:27). Clearly, the Lord is speaking to search for His sheep upon His return. The most crucial thing for Christians to do as they await the coming of the Lord is to seek to hear the voice of the Lord. How is one able to recognize the voice of the Lord, though? What is the difference between the voice of God and the voice of humans? Watch the video.
